Material Supply or Finished Heat Barrier Parts

Sheets and rolls. Specify the material construction, thickness, width and required supply length for in-house cutting or distribution. Available dimensions depend on the selected product; sheet and roll formats are not interchangeable across every construction.

Cut-to-size panels. Order defined panel dimensions for repeat installation on equipment housings, bulkheads or vehicle panels. Include corner details, orientation and any restrictions on joints or exposed edges.

Custom die-cut heat shields. Provide a drawing or template for shaped blanks with mounting holes, slots and clearance cutouts. Our die-cut heat reflective mats provide a direct starting point for projects that require a finished outline rather than a rectangular sheet.


Heat Barrier Materials Available for Your Project

Aluminized fiberglass Aluminized fiberglass barrier mats combine a reflective facing with a glass-fiber substrate. For a self-adhesive construction, review the adhesive-backed aluminum heat shield mat. Specify facing, thickness and fixing requirements.
Aluminum-faced silica Aluminum silica thermal barrier mats use a woven silica substrate. An adhesive-backed silica heat shield is also available. Evaluate the complete laminate rather than relying on the silica fiber rating alone.
Aluminized aramid Aluminized aramid heat barriers combine an aluminum outer surface with an aramid substrate. Define the installation geometry and proposed retention method when requesting a quotation.
Gold reflective sheet Adhesive-backed gold heat reflective sheets offer a peel-and-stick format for localized panel protection. Confirm the adhesive operating limit and mounting-surface compatibility separately from radiant heat exposure.
Volcanic-rock-fiber mat LAVA heat shield mats use volcanic rock fiber with adhesive backing. Treat this as a distinct material construction, not as an equivalent to an aluminum-faced reflective sheet.
Thermal and acoustic composite Aluminum acoustic heat shields combine an aluminum facing with a glass-fiber mat. Include both thermal and acoustic targets when evaluating the construction for an enclosure or panel.


Convert Your Drawing into a Manufacturable Heat Shield

A useful drawing identifies the protected area, outside contour, hole locations and surfaces that must remain uncovered. Mark critical tolerances rather than applying the same tolerance to every feature. For adhesive-backed parts, identify the bonding side and any areas that must remain free of adhesive for fastening or service access; feasibility is reviewed with the selected construction.

Reflective facing, textile substrate, insulating layer and adhesive backing should be specified as a complete assembly. Requests for a different laminate, thickness or backing are reviewed against material compatibility and manufacturing requirements. A change to one layer may require renewed fit and thermal evaluation.

Automotive Heat Barrier Supply

Applications to discuss include firewall heat shields, transmission tunnel barriers, floor-pan protection, under-hood panels and localized shielding on body panels near exhaust routing. Show which side faces the heat source and identify the available clearance. Underbody installations also need a review of splash, debris, airflow and mechanical retention; a self-adhesive sheet is not automatically suitable for an exposed underside location.

Industrial Thermal Barrier Projects

For generator enclosures, engine-driven machinery, equipment bulkheads and other industrial panels, provide the heat-source location and the permitted temperature on the protected side. Identify removable access panels and any exposure to vibration, cleaning fluids or oil. Where noise control is also required, include an acoustic target rather than assuming every thermal barrier has the same sound-control properties.


Define Thermal Performance Before Approving the Material

The temperature of an exhaust pipe is not the same as the temperature reached by a nearby shield or its adhesive. Specify continuous and peak conditions, exposure duration, minimum clearance and the target temperature of the protected panel or component. For reflective products, the reflective face must be oriented toward the radiant source, with the clearance required by the selected construction.

Review the facing, substrate, laminate bond and mounting adhesive separately. A high fiber temperature rating does not establish the operating limit of the finished adhesive-backed part. Approve the complete installation under representative conditions, including airflow, heat cycling and potential contact during vibration.

Panel-mounted barriers protect a nearby surface; they should not be specified as direct exhaust insulation without a separate assessment. For material fitted around a hot exhaust component, review our exhaust heat shield insulation instead.


Sampling and OEM Production Approval

Use the following checkpoints to define a custom heat barrier program before committing to repeat production.

  1. Application review: Submit the drawing or sample together with thermal conditions, mounting details and expected demand. Identify unresolved dimensions or performance requirements.
  2. Construction and sample agreement: Confirm the proposed material, finished format, prototype quantity and any tooling requirements before sample manufacture.
  3. Installation validation: Check fit, fastener alignment, adhesive performance where applicable, service access and protected-side temperature in the intended assembly.
  4. Production release: Record the approved drawing revision, construction, acceptance criteria and packaging instructions as the basis for repeat orders.


Quality Records, Packaging and Private-Label Supply

BSTFLEX's quality control process includes incoming material checks, in-process inspection and final shipment verification. For converted heat barriers, relevant checks include material identification, thickness, finished dimensions, layer alignment, surface condition and order-specific labeling. Agree the inspection scope and required records before production.

Our custom manufacturing and packaging services include cutting, die cutting, bagging, counted bundles and labeling. For private-label or OEM supply, specify the customer part number, pack quantity, label content and branding requirements for review. Request applicable material documentation and inspection reports during quotation so that their availability and scope can be confirmed.

Purchasing Questions

Can BSTFLEX supply both material and finished die-cut parts?

Yes. Material supply and custom converting can be discussed within the same project. State whether you need stock-format material, cut panels or finished die-cut heat shields. Available dimensions and conversion options depend on the chosen construction.

Can a quotation begin with an existing sample?

Yes. A sample or physical template can help establish the outline and installation requirements. Include the operating conditions and any changes needed. Appearance alone does not establish the original material composition or thermal performance, so those requirements must also be confirmed.

What determines minimum order quantity and lead time?

The selected material, stock availability, custom laminate requirements, tooling, part geometry and packaging all affect the quotation. State prototype and production quantities separately. Order quantity, tooling charges and delivery timing are confirmed for the individual project.

Can an adhesive-backed heat shield be fitted directly to an exhaust pipe?

Do not assume a panel-protection sheet is suitable for direct exhaust contact. The adhesive and complete laminate must be appropriate for the actual contact temperature and service conditions. Provide the intended installation for review before selecting the material.
